Freud invented psychoanalysis out of his symptom of the Oedipus Complex, but later questioned its neurotic foundations. Further revisions in psychic structure by Reich and Lacan re-centered psychoanalysis on new ground. In Anti-Oedipus, the first volume of Capitalism and Schizophrenia, Deleuze & Guattari completed the analytic re-orientation of psyche and socius in terms of the schizoid flows of differentiation and integration. Reading like a work of futurism, their efforts to move beyond neurosis and alienation are more crucial today than ever for issues of class, race, and gender. At its 50th anniversary we will re-engage with the power and potential of Anti- Oedipus in the work of a new wave of emergent analysts, and present clinical research from 20 years of psychoanalysis and schizoanalysis at Analytica and New Clinic.
