Recently while trying to conceptualize a form of social organization or “non-government” – wanting to reject the notions of 1. Republic as control of/for the public with its conservative hierarchical connotations, 2. Democracy (and Socialism) as government by the mass with its liberal mediocre connotations, and 3. Anarchy as absence of government especially in its often chaotic violent connotations – I came up with the term “Autarchy”: self-organization, -regulation, -government, as suggested by Christ, Buddha, Reich, and others.
The politics of the act moves from anamnesis – a journey of self revelation, soul recovery, integration, and autopoesis as suggested by Hahnemann and Freud – to the act of the pure present which turns outward toward the other and the future. The “I” or self is a signed masterpiece – a taking of responsibility for a series of acts, simultaneously heroic and mundane, which comprise a life, a karma. I believe Lacan took the idea as far as the European mind could manage but his last work remains a suspension, a mystery, which followers tend to ignore or obscure. Deleuze and Guattari were not followers but developers. Through Lawrence, Miller, Kerouac, Reich, and the American West they were able to break through to a new form of Life – as hard as it is to sustain in the midst of the “death drive” – that is the drive turned against itself.
Away from abstract man. Abstract man is not rational – he is developing his picture of the universe from his own deadened (and deadend) state. It is not that the creative vitalism of Steiner and Keyserling, Hahnemann and Reich, Lawrence and Miller, Bergson and Deleuze bases Being on animal life, it is that animal life like inorganic matter and intellectual ideas embodies process. Being is active becoming through and through the polyverse – from archetypal ideas and forms to disembodied spirits to animals, plants and minerals. It is only the fear of change and the will to stasis that turns process against itself into product, active into passive, drive into death drive, and creative wisdom into dead knowledge.
Through death to life. Happy vitalism strikes us as a mistake. There is no turning back to life except through death. Even within the psychoanalytic movement itself, and within each individual analysis, one must pass through the unconscious, the dark, the shadow, the left hand path, the black magic of separation, loss and yes death itself. For death is everywhere – the end of each concrescence, each set bounded by space, time, and form. Form as boundary to matter: Infinite substance of matter is shaped by the act of form, idea. Act as boundary to potency: That which is possible, that which has potential, is that which has power, potency. This is the articulation of Plato and Aristotle in the analytic birth of the West – the fulfillment of which is the topological mathematics of the present as demonstrated by for example Rene Thom and Alain Badiou. Analysis unites the act of form in time as topology grasps the time of change in abstraction.
